Our Photographer Membership is Growing and Growing!

Spring is fully here at our PD offices in the northern hemisphere, and alongside the abundant gowth all around, we have had a growth in the number of photographers we have signed on and in image submissions to our website. That means lots more gorgeous and striking images for you to pick from, and more photographers available for bespoke assignments near you. And if you don't find quite the image you want, have a try at our image request service.

Remember that we quality control all our photographers to ensure that they are professional and competent, and check each and every one of their uploads to make sure they meet the PD standard. Photographers Direct are also on hand to enable a smooth and trouble-free transaction, so that you get the images you want, on time.

Our new feature of photo-story and article ideas is growing too, giving editors a rich pool of inspiration for content for their publications, with packages and copy quickly available.

This Spring, Photographers Direct is blooming! Do have a look at our featured photographers and their services below, and call by our website for hundreds of thousands more images to meet your needs. And if you live in the southern part of the globe, enjoy your Autumn/Fall guys!

Werner Forman Archive – Amazing Collection of Images of Ancient Cultures

Werner Forman Archive is one of the world's most outstanding collections of ancient art, architecture and culture.  From the torcs of the Celts to Mayan temples and Buddhist ceremonies, Werner Forman travelled the world to uncover our human heritage and history.

He was the sole photographer and co-author of over 80 books and the archive has contributed images to many more, as well as films, television programmes, advertising and new media. The collection includes images which illustrate world history, religions, mythology and cultural encounters. It has rare and special collections of masks, puppets, amulets, symbols, erotica, textiles, manuscripts and coins, originating from major museums and private collections around the world.

The collection covers every significant civilisation and area, including ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Middle East, Celts, Vikings, Africa, India, Japan, China and Asia, as well as pre-Columbian America, Native Americans and Inuit.

The images have extensive captions, written by staff with academic qualifications in archaeology, art and history, so publishers can be confident in the accuracy of the text.

Images from this extensive and unique collection are supplied as digital files.

The Magical Andes Photography Image Library

Bolivia based British photographer James Brunker continues to add new images to his Magical Andes Photography Image Library. Notable recent additions include images from the San Pedro de Atacama region of northern Chile and the Salar de Uyuni and Torotoro National Park in Bolivia. James has also been dedicating more time to astrophotography, taking advantage of the wonderful clear, dark, high altitude skies the region has to offer. Many other fully keyworded images (including landscapes, cities and architecture, festivals and customs, flora and fauna) of Bolivia, Peru and Chile (especially the northern Atacama Desert regions) are available. James has an extensive collection of images from the region in his archives (many of locations and events that are not widely available) and these are continually being added to the site database.

Facilities for picture reseachers such as lightboxes, downloading comps, on-line ordering and file delivery are available, and images can also be ordered as high quality prints. If you need images from Bolivia, Chile and Peru or to commission a photographer in the area please get in touch!
