Simon Brown wins the Suunto Open Category at the British Underwater Imaging Festival

Taken late last year, an image of two Royal Navy Clearance Divers staging an underwater fight for the the team Christmas card has won first prize at the 2011 British Underwater Imaging Festival, and the winning image can be seen at www.simonbrownimages.com

The judges praised the precision of lighting and the subtlety of the composition used to create the winning image. Simon’s underwater image was taken using remote flashes, and used here to compelling effect.

Simon is available for commission of underwater images, working to a brief for editorial, advertising and commercial work.

Bob Tetro photographed the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fé Railway Shops in December 2010.

The former Santa Fé Railway Shops in Albuquerque, New Mexico, consist of eighteen surviving buildings erected in 1916 and 1924. The complex is located south of downtown in the Barelas neighborhood. The buildings, which constitute an historic village in the heart of Albuquerque, once housed the largest urban industry in New Mexico, employed more people than any other business in Albuquerque, and had more to do with the growth of the city than any other event or enterprise.

Given the site's unique resource and unparalleled opportunity for urban revitalization based upon the adaptive re-use of an historic structure, various plans have been discussed for the Santa Fé shops, including a transportation museum to be called the Wheels Museum, a multi-use retail and exposition center, and a state-of-the-art digital film studio.

Rodrigo Meurer is a new name in outdoor photography. From 14 March until May, Rodrigo will be on a trip to Patagonia, in Argentina and Chile, passing through places like Peninsula Valdez, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Torres del Paine, El Chalten, El Bolson, Pucon, Bariloche, Aconcagua and other fascinating places. The purpose of the trip is not only to capture images of nature and adventure to make up his portfolio, but also to write about his experiences at each one of these incredible locations. The idea is to end the trip at the Atacama Desert after crossing the Argentinean Northwest, including cities like Salta and Jujuy. Check out his current portfolio and stock images available at http://www.rodrigomeurer.com and track information from the travel blog http://baholhasoh.blogspot.com and other notes about adventure at http://40milkm.blogspot.com (both in portuguese but you can always "Google translate" it).
