"Mound" Silent Villages an Ali Kabas exhibition "Mound is the oldest settlement unit, a prehistoric village. Turkey is one of the richest countries in mounds; there are around 3000 mounds documented in the country. Mounds hold traces and memories of the people settled in Anatolia throughout the ages and are records of our past extending 10,000 years and cultural storages, reasons for making them very important. Last summer I joined for a period The Archaeological Settlements of Turkey - TAY Project team who makes an inventory of archaeological settlements in Turkey starting with prehistoric ages and establishes damage. I perceived the mounds as living beings. Life has continued around them and even on some of them for hundreds of years. Unfortunately a great majority are subjected to damage for many reasons. I hope these small hills, old villages which we usually don't even notice when passing near them receive the respect and protection they deserve for future generations..." Often it's more a case of tourist being watched by the whales. It's an amazing experience with numerous photo opportunities. | The Bean The City of Chicago installed this chrome sculpture as part of the new Millennium Park. Millennium Park is at the base of Grant Park along the shore of Lake Michigan and Michigan Avenue. During the past six months Malci has been digitising his collection of images whilst continuing in his role as a freelance photographer. His specialist areas are travel, editorial, advertising and fine art. After travelling extensively, he's now preparing to add a European base to allow for greater access for an ever increasing demand for images from europe. From 16th Jan 2005, Malci will be travelling down to Andalucia in Spain to increase his collection of photos of Cadiz, Jerez, Seville and surrounding areas. Later in the year he'll be making the journey to Cuba to bring more images into his collection. The collection contains images from many countries around the world and good size collections from French Polynesia, Panama Canal, Africa and the USA are available.
