Victor Englebert will be in Cameroon between October 15 and November 7. If you need pictures from that French- (and English-) speaking African country please let me know. I'll do my best to try to take them. While away, his wife, Martha, will be there to service all other picture requests. Do you ever need pictures of salt? Everyone takes it for granted, but thousands of people off the known map still make a living mining it underground, from the sea, from salt lakes, and in pits through evaporation. Many more transport it on the backs of camels, mules, donkeys, and llamas and trade it for food and manufactured goods on the markets of distant villages. He has photographed all that in the Sahara, Ethiopia, Colombia, and Bolivia. In an entirely different environment, he has spent 40 days following the Yanomami Indians of the Amazon rain forest from their hammocks to their drinking parties to their forest gardens to their shaman's entranced dances and on their fishing, gathering, and hunting expeditions photographing their every moves.
