Top of the volcano there is a small caldera with a break in the rim which the outlet glacier Gigjokull drains. Eyjafjallajokull began to erupt on March 20. 2010. According to scientists, the eruption in Eyjafjallajokull has a continuing discharge of meltwater from Gigjokull Glacier due to ice melt caused by the volcano.These pictures are shot 17 months after the eruption. Area is still filled with large sand holes, ash and algae forms in the water. The area is always changing.
