Next to the sheer rock faces of the karwendel mountains the sycamore maple forest Grosser Ahornboden and the alp village of Eng are the main attractions . More than 2000 sycamore trees ( Acer pseudoplatanus ) are spread in the alp meadow , sometimes more than 600 years old . To preserve this listed natural monument a monitored replanting is constantley going on . The Karwendel limestone mountain range is the largest range in the eastern alps .
