Description: Yellow footed rock wallaby , Petrogale xanthopus , in the Flinders Ranges National Park in the outback of South Australia . The Yellow footed rock wallaby , is a colorful and very pretty little rock wallaby living in steep rocky outcrops and the rock faces of gorges in the australian outback . It is considered to be the most beautiful of all kangaroos . The striped / annulated extra long tail and the huge paws of the hind legs are the most striking features . It is strictly protected and is listed in the Red List of endangered species . It is mostly nocturnal and crepuscular and spends the days in caves and crack of cliffs . It is a very good climber and is positioned in a similar ecological niche as apline ibex , chamois or mountain goats .
