The striated caracara is a strictly protected bird of prey living only on some islands like the Falkland Islands in the subantarctic region . He is living mainly of carrion or weakened animals around the colonies of penguins and albatrosses in this area . He is considered to be one of the most inteligent birds , very playful and curious . He does not show any fear of humans and he likes to investigate unknown things . Before adulthood straited caracaras are forming bachelor groups or bands who look for food together in marauding bands . South Amerika , subantarctica , Falkland Islands , January 2003
