Description: Elephant Ears ( Colocasia esculenta ) Araceae Family originated in tropical Asia . Elephant Ears are grown for their lush foliage . Since they require a lot of water , theyre usually used near ponds . The leaves can be as much as 2 ft . across and are shaped like elephant ears . The flower is pale yellow , about 15 inches with a very long sterile appendage similar to Peace Lily . Elephant Ears bloom in summer , but rarely flowers .
