John Rattle trained in photography in the analogue days of the black and white darkroom, and mainly specialised in slides until digital technology had matured enough. Professional activities encompassed radio and TV studio work and teaching on City and Guilds Photography courses until a recent move to Normandy in France, where additional travel photography and studio work is planned for the future.

John is available for commissions in the Normandy, Brittany and Loire regions and has a growing portfolio of generic and specific French images of these and other regions.

Mainly based on the nature field my photographs take into account the light in this environment. I have been shooting mostly in north east of France. That is by nature a large field of investigation (lakes, mountains, forest, rivers, biotope), but not only. The climate itself is an opportunity for shooting through over the year and bring us a broad panel of luminosity and landscapes.

If I had to introduce myself briefly I would say that I am a photographer and a workshop instructor who has specialized in nature and landscape photography. But that would just convey the visible part of my personal iceberg, as you can see it now. Before I could show that present portrait of mine, many little drops of life have filled in a vase that is not yet totally full. I was born in The Netherlands and lived a big part of my adult life in Amsterdam. I studied Human Resource Management and Communication and I worked the last 6 years of my other professional career as a Communication Adviser for a Pharmaceutical Company.
Everything changed in 2007 when I decided to move to Auvergne, in France and focus on my passion, photography. Over the years I have carried out private commissions, photo assignments. You can also find my work in many magazines and other publications.
